Library Info
Hippiatrica is an open access digital platform for the data of a dynamic library (called HIPPO) created from the Collectio software. It is intended for research on hippiatric texts from Antiquity to the early Middle Ages. Hippiatric literature consists of predominantly Greek and Latin texts on the care and medical treatment of horses written from about the 4th century BC onwards. Many texts were also translated into other languages including Arabic, Syriac, Armenian, and Western vernacular languages. The aim is to include as many sources as possible that contain texts or collections of excerpts, such as the different redactions of the extensive Greek compilation Corpus Hippiatricorum Graecorum (or Hippiatrica), and other related literature on horses from editions, manuscripts and modern translations. Hippiatrica acknowledges the sponsorship of the Swedish Research Council.
