Hippiatrica is an open access digital platform for the data of a dynamic library (called HIPPO) created from the Collectio software. It is intended for research on hippiatric texts from Antiquity to the early Middle Ages. Hippiatric literature consists of predominantly Greek and Latin texts on the care and medical treatment of horses written from about the 4th century BC onwards. Many texts were also translated into other languages including Arabic, Syriac, Armenian, and Western vernacular languages. The aim is to include as many sources as possible that contain texts or collections of excerpts, such as the different redactions of the extensive Greek compilation Corpus Hippiatricorum Graecorum (or Hippiatrica), and other related literature on horses from editions, manuscripts and modern translations. Hippiatrica acknowledges the sponsorship of the Swedish Research Council.

To the left you have the sources grouped by actual ’Language’. In the ’Sources’ panel you select what sources to be included in the search. That is either one language folder or one or more sources in the same language folder. Above you select ’Search’ to get the panels for creating output. You can search for one string of characters or up to five strings if more than one separate them with double ampersands surrounded by space ( && ). If more than one string all must occur in the same text unit. The resulted text units will be seen in the ’Occurrences’ panel where you can select which you would like to see in the output. You can select one or more sources or even individual text units. To see all you mark the root folder (i.e. Occurrences), but there is a restriction on how much that can be included in the output.
